This Level 3 qualification has been created specifically for Pilates instructors who want to work safely and confidently with pre- and postnatal clients.
Unlike most pre- and postnatal fitness courses, this programme recognises the unique teaching environment of mat-based Pilates — where precision, breath and mindful movement matter as much as physical strength.
You’ll gain the knowledge and practical skills to plan and deliver safe, effective sessions for women at every stage of pregnancy and early postnatal recovery, while staying within your professional scope and ensuring your clients feel seen, safe and supported.

Pre & Postnatal Course Structure
You must already hold a Level 3 Diploma in Pilates Matwork to enrol.
This qualification blends online study, 1:1 tutor support and face-to-face workshops to help you build both knowledge and practical confidence. You’ll explore pregnancy, birth and recovery through the specific lens of Pilates — understanding what changes in the body, how to adapt safely, and when to progress or refer.
Here’s what’s included:
Welcome & Onboarding
Set yourself up for success with a clear overview of the qualification, assessments and tutor support.
Prenatal Programming
Learn how the body changes through each trimester — from cardiovascular and postural shifts to hormonal and emotional factors — and how to adapt Pilates movements safely and effectively.
You’ll explore the benefits of prenatal exercise, contraindications, breathwork and core stability, and how to plan sessions that support both physical and mental wellbeing.
Postnatal Recovery
Understand what happens after birth — from pelvic floor and abdominal wall recovery to posture, strength and emotional health.
You’ll discover how to rebuild stability, restore breath connection and progress clients confidently through each stage of recovery.
Assessment 1: Knowledge Worksheet
Consolidate your learning and demonstrate understanding of the key concepts behind safe pre- and postnatal exercise.
Assessment 2: Case Study
Plan and deliver a Pilates programme for a prenatal and a postnatal client — showing how you adapt exercises, language and support to meet each stage safely.
